Site Changes
Overall, the feedback from the community has been encouraging. A few ideas were suggested and these have now been implemented to some degree:
- Categories have been added for the book pages. An author can now indicate the skill level of the posting, what version of jQuery the post applies to, and free-form keywords (aka tags).
- A Categories section has been added to the menu. From here you can see the postings for each skill level (from most recent post to oldest). As the postings get tagged with the jQuery version information, we'll include the versions on the category page.
- The posting guidelines have been changed to include details for the categories. We have also added a section to encourage the posting of the full HTML and/or supporting files (CSS, JS, etc). Member RFaircloth suggested this and it makes sense for anything that is beyond the absolute basics.
From this point forward I'll try myself to fill in the categories and include more complete code examples. And as time permits I'll go back and update the existing HowTo's with the necessary changes. They have all been tagged with the appropriate skill level already though.
Now, I think we need something better for our front page other than the just a listing of new blog or page postings. If anyone has suggestions here or would care to contribute something please feel free. You can contact me at "jqdates AT open2space dot com" (replace the AT and dot with the appropriate symbols.. ). In the meantime, I'll give some though to what we need for the front page...
